These instructions will guide you through how to make the most referral tracking and why your involvement matters.

Why Referral Tracking Matters

Referral tracking is a clear and effective procedure that plays a critical role for several important reasons:

  • Recognizing Contributions: It ensures that every recommendation you receive is acknowledged, giving credit where it is due.
  • Driving Care: Referrals are one of the most effective ways to expand networks, attract new talent or customers, and strengthen engagement.
  • Optimizing Strategies: Tracking helps the organization understand what works, allowing for better strategies and improved experiences for all participants.

How Referral Tracking Works: Step-by-Step Guide to Using Referral Tracking (Administrative Staff assisted)

  • Step 1: Add patient name, DOB, date referred, referring provider/center and the scheduled cochlear implant evaluation (CIE), including audiologist providing the service.
  • Step 2: Following CIE, enter if the patient is a candidate. If not, why? Record when your report is sent via the EMR.
  • Step 3: Add the surgeon and date of surgery following the medical evaluation.
  • Step 4: Add activation date and date for the activation report is sent to the referring provider.
  • Step 5: Add a 3-month follow up assessment date and date when the 3-month report is sent to the referring provider.
  • Step 6: Track referrals at least annually, though reviewing them every six months is recommended for monitoring candidate referrals, implants, and care practise. A new tab may be started each year to document annual changes.
