Cost implications of CIs

Statement 20:
Unilateral cochlear implantation in adults is cost-effective when compared with no implant or no intervention at all and is associated with increased employment and income.

I think the medical professional, the family physician, people who take care of the elderly, must be aware of what a cochlear implant can offer. In India, at least, I feel a lot of patients depend on their family physician for making decisions, so as medical and paramedical persons, I think you are duty bound to see that you offer the best medical care or treatment to the patient. My message to them would be, now that you’ve become aware of what is needed, don’t hesitate, let the patient go where they will get the best treatment.
